Business is booming on the online trading platform eBay during the corona pandemic. In the second quarter, sales increased by 18 percent to 2.9 billion dollars (2.5 billion euros) compared to the previous year, as the company announced on Tuesday after the US market closed. The platform's total sales volume climbed 26 percent to $ 27.1 billion.

Eight million new customers were added in the three months to the end of June, announced Ebay boss Jamie Iannone. The bottom line was that the firm earned 740 million dollars (632 million euros), 85 percent more than in the same period last year. The share initially reacted with price gains after the trading day, but then turned into the red, although the numbers were well above the forecasts. (DPA)
